Motivair's Cooling Technology Helps AWE Accelerate Research

AWE’s latest supercomputer, Vulcan, came online at the end of 2021. It features Motivair’s ChilledDoors® and will help expand the organization’s research and simulation capabilities.

Vulcan is a Shasta River system from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). According to AWE, it “features 5000 processors based upon 32-core, 2.9 GHz, second-generation AMD EPYC ‘Rome’ sockets, with a theoretical peak performance of 7.42 PetaFLOPs. It will connect with Cray’s new high-speed interconnect ‘Slingshot’, with storage provided via a Lustre-based Cray ClusterStor.”

This latest supercomputer deployment is one of several Motivair has participated in, as its technology is integral to four supercomputers on three different continents.
