BUFFALO, N.Y. (USA), June 27, 2025 — Motivair by Schneider Electric, a leading innovator in liquid cooling technology for digital infrastructure, today announced the opening of its fourth U.S. production facility in Buffalo, New York. This strategic expansion fortifies its U.S. supply chain and unlocks new throughput for its end-to-end cooling portfolio engineered for next generation AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. The expansion forms part of the group’s plans, announced in March, in the U.S. to support energy and AI sectors and job growth.
Cooling can consume up to 40% of a data center’s power budget. Rack densities have skyrocketed from 20 kW, traditionally air cooled, to well over 100 kW, driving unprecedented heat loads. Direct liquid cooling — up to 3,000 × more effective at heat removal than air cooling — helps mitigate costs and energy use by capturing heat directly at the source.
Motivair’s U.S.-built, megawatt class Coolant Distribution Units, ChilledDoor® rear door heat exchangers, and Dynamic® Cold Plates deliver precise thermal control for 100 kW plus AI racks, safeguarding peak performance, energy efficiency, and uptime. Decades of domestic manufacturing enables Motivair to keep projects on track, speed time to market, and compress ROI for next generation data center investments.
“AI‑driven innovation is rewriting performance thresholds across the data center landscape, fueling demand for integrated solutions that span from grid to chip, and from chip to chiller,” said Rich Whitmore, CEO of Motivair by Schneider Electric. “Leveraging Schneider Electric’s expertise in digitalization, electrification, and sustainability, this expansion allow us to deliver advanced cooling solutions and integrated services even faster, helping our partners and clients accelerate compute deployments and stay ahead of surging AI demand.”
With four U.S. facilities, Motivair deepens its ability to support leading silicon manufacturers, as well as hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data centers upgrading for next generation AI acceleration.
Motivair joined Schneider Electric in 2025, enhancing its position as a comprehensive provider of cooling solutions through integration into Schneider Electric’s Secure Power division. Motivair customers now benefit from Schneider Electric’s extensive digital energy management portfolio, including integrated hardware and software solutions.
