Closed Loop Cooling Systems
Motivair Closed Loop Cooling Systems are designed to allow continuous cooling of industrial water-cooled equipment with little or no water used or wasted. Motivair offers the widest range of Closed Loop Cooling Systems available anywhere, with a solution for every problem.
1. Closed Loop Dry Coolers - Used when the ambient air dry bulb temperature is lower than the required closed loop water temperature (Cool water temperatures in the 90 -120°F range). For more information click Dry Fluid Coolers
2. Closed Loop Evaporative Coolers - Used when the ambient wet bulb temperature is lower than the water to be cooled. (Cool water temperatures in the 80-105°F range). For more information click Closed Loop Evaporative Towers
3. Closed Loop Heat Exchanger Systems- Used when a source of cooling water is available but not clean enough for the process. (Closed loop water temperpatures within 5°F of the available cooling supply). For more information click Plate & Frame Systems
4. Closed Loop Chilled Water Systems - Used when the cooled water temperature required is lower than dry cooler or evaporative systems. (Supply water temperature fro -20°F to +75°F) Motivair air-cooled water chillers are available with free winter cooling or heat recovery options for maximum energy savings. Applications for Closed Loop Cooling Systems
Closed loop cooling systems can be applied to any water cooled industrial machinery, for example: air & gas compressors, turbines, heat treating furnaces, welding machines, hydraulics, liquid ring vacuum pumps , condensing units and many others.
Operational Savings
Completely eliminating water use is a significant and continuous cost saving for any industrial facility. Both city water and sewage charges are reduced or eliminated and the return on investment (ROI) is usually 1-2 years. This payback time is even shorter if a heat recovery system is employed as an integral component of the closed loop cooling system.
System Components of Closed Loop Cooling Systems
A typical closed loop cooling system includes one of the above four heat rejection methods, plus a pump station, expansion tank, valves & controls. These closed loop cooling systems can be packaged on a single skid, or with a separate pump station if required.

Motivair packaged water chillers are all available with integral pump stations. For more information on custom pump stations click (Pump Stations 1-100 HP. An inhibited Ethylene or Propylene (food-grade) glycol solution is required for any closed loop cooling systems exposed to ambient temperatures below 32°F, or low refrigeration temperatures, in order to prevent freezing.
